Lotus Sametime 8.5 Cluster

IBM® Lotus® Sametime® 8.5 and 8.5.1 consists of client and server applications that enable a community of users to collaborate through instant messaging and on-line meetings over an intranet or the Internet. Members of the Lotus Sametime community use collaborative activities such as awareness, chat, screen sharing, and real-time audio/video capabilities to work together. For further information, please see the Lotus Sametime 8.5.x information center. external link

Overview

This scenario shows a Lotus Sametime 8.5 Cluster environment. The cluster consists of seventeen machines with the Lotus Sametime System Console as the cluster's Deployment Manager, which provides a single Integrated Solutions Console for all WebSphere administrative functions for all servers participating in the cell – this simplifies the administrative experience. The Horizontal cluster includes a Primary node plus one or more Secondary nodes, all running the same application. Each node contains one cluster member. Secondary nodes are used to horizontally scale the cluster across multiple physical systems. These additional nodes act as containers for additional cluster members, which can be used to balance loads and provide fail over within the cluster. Clustering is not available for the Packet Switcher; it is also not available for an "All Components" installation of the Media Manager, which includes the Packet Switcher, The Conference Manager components and the SIP Proxy and Registrar components must be installed and clustered on dedicated computers. The cluster also contains of a dedicated DB2 server and a dedicated LDAP Server on the remaining two machines.

The software stack includes:

1.- Lotus Sametime Community Server 8.5
2.- Lotus Domino Server 8.5
3.- Lotus Sametime Meeting Server 8.5
4.- Lotus Sametime Media Manager Server 8.5
5.- Lotus Sametime Gateway Server 8.5
6.- Lotus Sametime Proxy Server 8.5
7.- Lotus Sametime System Console 8.5
8.- DB2 UDB Edition v9.5
9.- WebSphere Application Server 7.0.0.3
10.-WebSphere Application Server 7.0.0.3 Network Deployment
11.- IBM Tivoli Directory Server 6.1
12.- Network Dispatcher: IBM Edge Components of IBM WebSphere Application Server 7.0
13.- Load Balancer: IBM Edge Components of IBM WebSphere Application Server 7.0

See Hardware and software requirementsexternal link for a complete list of requirements. This configuration is suggested for customers who wish to perform an enterprise deployment of the Lotus Sametime 8.5 where high-availability, fail over and scalability are factors in the deployment. This configuration is suggested for medium to large customer populations.
